Friendly and responsible Medical Office Receptionist wanted for very busy family practice in Cambridge, MD. The ideal candidate must be articulate, organized and detail oriented. He/she will have a pleasant manner, be reliable, and be able and willing to work as part of a team. They will possess the ability to multi-task, all while maintaining a pleasant, professional manner. Computer and EMR knowledge is a must.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Greet and direct patients upon arrival for appointment. Check patient into the office for appointment.
Pre-register patients, verify demographics, and insurance, check insurance eligibility.
Provide patients with intake, financial, and legally required documents for signing.
Collect all applicable copays, patient balances, fee for service money.
Assist patient with questions concerning their account, and insurance.
Prepare providers schedules daily to include modifying, rescheduling, adjusting as needed.
Answer multi-line phones and direct the caller to the appropriate party or handle the caller’s needs.
Sort mail, copy medical records as directed, complete HEDIS record reviews, request medical records from other providers and medical facilities.
Stock supplies
Work within the EMR to ensure all documents are routed to the proper place
Communicate with other staff members to ensure that the patients needs are met appropriately and in a timely manner.
Assist patients in logging in for virtual visits
Planning
Effectively maintains all medical record, insurance eligibility and scheduling responsibilities and reports directly to the office manager with any issues.
Maintains a steady, timely flow of patient scheduling and registration throughout the day for the assistant/provider examination.
Effectively obtains and documents information from patient telephone calls to ensure adequate and timely response from the assistant/provider(s)
Performs efficient investigation into patient’s insurance coverage to ensure coverage for all office visits.
Aligns workday with the objective of performing multi-task duties that may include maintaining appropriate provider schedules, proper notification to assistants/provider(s) of schedule changes, reporting to office manager for additional tasks, providing support to all areas of the work place to ensure timely service to the patients and providing general information to patients to make the office visit a pleasant experience.
High school diploma, previous medical office experience, and computer / EMR knowledge required.
